If a restaurant closes and the Internet fails to notice, could it have been any good? Actually yes. After two-plus years of business, Queenie's Soul Cuisine shuttered at the end of August. Despite favorable reviews, news of the Hikes Point outpost's going out of business didn't debut on the Internet until a message board post six weeks after the fact.
While owner Thomas Patterson hasn't responded to requests for comment, this line from a Consuming Louisville review may have both explained the lack of attention its closing drew and foreshadowed the cause: "Tucked away into a shopping center in the Hikes Point area it's unlikely you'll just stumble on it."
A poster on Louisville Hot Bytes speculated that another soul food restaurant would open in Queenie's former spot in January 2013, but a representative of the McMahan Group that owns the space said it has not yet been leased out. Currently the windows have signs in them for Sarah Provancer, Republican candidate for Metro Council in District 26 (whose candidacy faired no better than Queenie's).
