Damaris Phillips's Show Southern at Heart Debuts

New, 2 comments

The highly anticipated show Southern at Heart hosted by Food Network Star Season 9 winner Damaris Phillips premiered this past Sunday. The half hour segment featured Phillips coaching her guest on how to wow his pregnant wife on the day they find out the sex of their baby. In addition to some quirky modernized southern recipes Phillips highlighted a few local treasures, such as Bourbon Barrel Foods sorghum.

Phillips featured three different recipes for her guest in attempt to teach him how to woo his wife. The first a burnt peanut sorghum candied apple which was an updated version of the tradition caramel apple. She followed with a modern southern chili with all kinds of "secret ingredients" ranging from chickpeas to peanut butter. Finally, she featured a classic chocolate cupcake with a burnt orange marshmallow topping. The Jefferson Community and Technical College Culinary Arts instructor shined in the debut of her show.

Miss the premiere? Don't worry, there's still five more episodes left of the pilot season of the show. Airing every Sunday at 10:30 on Food Network, be sure to tune in to see what other crazy twists Phillips will teach her lovesick companions.
