Thursday, December 5 is Repeal Day, marking the end of the Volstead Act and the renaissance of (legal) distilling industries, distributorships and drinking establishments. Several local establishments are celebrating with special events (and mustaches).
The Exchange Pub + Kitchen: The $25 Willet bourbon tasting may be fully booked, but the New Albany establishment invites folks to join the staff "dressed in their best 1930's attire." Prizes for "Best Dressed" and "Most Awesome Mustache" will be handed out.
Proof on Main: "Costumes are encouraged" and "mustaches will be supplied" at Proof's Repeal Day Celebration, with a "special Prohibition-era cocktails list" available in the lounge.
Rye on Market: Classic cocktails such as Sazerac, Martinez and Mexican Firing Squad will be paired with updated versions for that Prohibition time-travel effect.
Bourbon's Bistro: "Two bit" (25¢) whiskey shots and bites will be on hand from 6 p.m. on, along with guest bartender Chris Morris, Woodford Reserve Master Distiller. "Prohibition movies" will be playing, prizes for costumes will be awarded, and "flapper-era costumes are strongly encouraged!"
