"What they wanted ... was to make it look like you're behind the bar, looking at the customers," said Bill Page, a lifelong Louisvillian and former sign painter regarding his recently finished multi-wall mural at The Back Door. A whiskey-and-soda-drinking regular at the bar for a decade, Page put a self portrait at the center of the mural's first panel. Page, who now works three days a week at Wal-Mart, painted the walls at the Back Door on his off days, and says "It was a sense of pride and joy for me...[i]t was probably worth three times what they paid, but it showed what I could do."
