Kill Devil Club, Marquee Bar to Open in Fourth Street Live

New, 3 comments

Tourists who don't know any better and fratty-types who might but don't care will be excited to learn two new spots are opening on Fourth Street Live. From the ashes of the shuttered Angels Rock Bar will rise The Kill Devil Club and The Marquee Bar. Both are slated to open this spring.

The 2,500-square-foot Kill Devil Club, according to a press release, "will feature the largest rum selection in Louisville." And the Marquee Bar will be an "ultra-stylish nightclub," "set to define destination clubbing at Fourth Street Live!." The best way to be ultra-stylish, of course, is to call yourself ultra-stylish.

Eater National included the original Kill Devil Club in its "21 Hottest Cocktail Bars Across the U.S."

From the press release:

Critically acclaimed cocktail lounge, The Kill Devil Club originated in Kansas City, Mo., and was named one of "The 21 Hottest Cocktail Bars Across the U.S." by Eater, an online food magazine. [Louisville's Meat also was included.] The Kill Devil Club, as suggested by its name, which is the historic English predecessor to the word "rum," will feature the largest rum selection in Louisville along with an innovative cocktail menu created by mixologist, Ryan Maybee, founder of The Kill Devil Club. Maybee is the first person to achieve the BAR Masters Certification through Beverage Alcohol Resource, the equivalent of a Master Sommelier, and has been featured in Wine Enthusiast, Food and Wine, Vogue, GQ, Esquire, Vanity Fair, and Bartender Magazine. The menu will feature a variety of cocktails with made-from-scratch elements, such as syrups and fresh-squeezed juices.

"Maybee's innovative ideas coupled with his knowledge and expertise about trends and techniques for creating cocktail menus will bring an array of blends, including classic cocktails, contemporary flavors and exotic spirits." says Tony Thomas, managing partner of The Kill Devil Club and The Marquee Bar.

The Kill Devil Club will occupy an intimate 2,500 square-foot space on the second floor of Fourth Street Live!. The lush and comfortable interior design will boast of dark walls with antique stencils, a hammered tin ceiling and eclectic art throughout the venue. Music will include electro swing, blues and classic funk with occasional live music.

Adjacent to The Kill Devil Club will be The Marquee Bar. This ultra-stylish nightclub is set to define destination clubbing at Fourth Street Live!. Thomas states, "We've picked the best elements of our favorite clubs around the country to deliver an unimaginable nightlife experience."

Offering an inventive twist to Louisville's club experience, The Marquee Bar will deliver a visual spectacle with the most sophisticated state-of-the-art sound and lighting system collaborated with the club's dance music. Premier bottle service will be available in the raised VIP seating area with private tables set amongst a stunning backdrop incorporating over one mile of controllable LED lights. The visual persona is accompanied with a spacious dance floor, two Italian marble bars and luxurious fabrics and finishes.

The Kill Devil Club will be open Thursday-Saturday and The Marquee Bar will be open Friday and Saturday.

Also, according to that release, Fourth Street Live is "Kentucky's leading destination over the past eight years with over 4.5 million visitors per year." Yep, "anything's possible here in Louisville."
