Seviche's Anthony Lamas Arrested for DUI

New, 6 comments

Seviche: A Latin Restaurant's chef and owner Anthony Lamas was arrested this week for DUI according to the Crime Times. Lamas's mugshot is on the cover of the April 1, 2013 issue. It reappears in the This Weeks DUI Arrests section (p. 12) above the caption, "Anthony Lamas, DUI, 1st Offense." The magazine gives no other information about the arrest. As the footer of each page reads though, "All pictured are presumed innocent until proven guilty."

"I'm very disappointed and I will deal with the consequences and learn from my mistakes," Lamas said when asked for comment by Eater Louisville. "I want to continue to be the best husband and father I can be. I hope I can set an example to my family and peers. I'm truly sorry!"

Lamas, who was recently featured in Best Chef's America," was the winner on the Food Network's "Extreme Chef" in 2011. In 2010-2012, he was a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef: Southeast award. Seviche, located on Bardstown Road, is on both Eater Louisville's list of the city's top 18 restaurants and its list of the city's hottest restaurants.

Crime Times was launched in February 2011, sells for $1 and features mug shots taken from the public record, according to WAVE 3. It covers arrests in Bullitt, Hardin, Jefferson and Oldham Counties. According to the magazine, Lamas was one of 119 people in the area arrested for DUI last week.

Eater Louisville first learned of Lamas's arrest via an anonymous comment at 9:06 p.m. last night in response to our article on Seviche and Lamas's scheduled April 20 appearance on the Cooking Channel's "America's Best Bites." The comment was deleted at the time as its claims weren't able to be immediately verified and other aspects of it violated the Curbed Network's Terms of Service regarding User-Generated Content.
