Woodford Reserve Derby Preview Benefits Churchill Downs Backside Learning Center

Monday night at the Crowne Plaza Louisville, the annual Kentucky Derby Preview was held, benefiting the Backside Learning Center. Hosted by sports broadcasters Bob Valvano and Caton Bredar, the event featured interviews with some jockeys, trainers and owners of Derby and Oaks horses. The preview was broadcast live from 7-9 p.m. on ESPN 680 AM.

Also in attendance were Chip Woolley, trainer of Kentucky Derby 135 winner Mine that Bird, and Donna Barton Brothers, a retired jockey who's now an analyst for NBC Sports and a member of the Backside Learning Center's board of directors.

According to its website, "The Backside Learning Center enhances the lives of equine workers by providing education, life skill resources and community, ultimately benefiting the horse. We do this by offering relevant learning experiences, diverse social opportunities, and personal and professional development to equestrian workers in a caring, respectful environment."
