Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are three choice dining events going on around the city:
Actors Theatre 50th Anniversary Block Party
When: Saturday, 1-10 p.m.
Where: Main Street between Third and Fourth Streets
What: Actors Theatre is kicking off its 50th anniversary with a free block party. There'll be live music from Ben Sollee and The Pass and others, a props and costume sale and, why Eater is posting about this event, food from chef Edward Lee and MilkWood and local food trucks Grind, Holy Mole, Lil Cheezers and Snowie Shaved Ice Bus.
Food Truck Sunday
When: Sunday (duh), 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: St. Joe's Children's Home (2823 Frankfort Ave.)
What: In addition to the eponymous food trucks, Food Truck Sunday will include a mini farmer's market (no word on the maximum height limit for a farmer to participate) and a flea market on the lawn of St. Joe's Children's Home as well as sidewalk sales from retailers and neighborhood residents. Food trucks schedule to be there include French-Indo Canada, Holy Molé Taco Truck, Jam Pan, Lil Cheezers, Johnny's Diner Car, Sweet'N'Savory, Snowie Shaved Ice, and Will's Grill. A portion of the food truck sales will benefit St. Joe's.
Kentucky State Fair
When: Through Aug. 25
Where: The Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (937 Phillips Lane)
What: Skip this year's state fair stunt food, the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe, and head to the Broadbent Arena Lawn for local dairy, beef, ham, pork, chicken, fish, lamb and corn. (And while the Mike Linnig's tent serves up iconic fair fare, it's not worth having to suffer through the sad Little Miss Sunshine talent show that accompanies it.)
