Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are two choice dining events going on around the city:
Taste of South Louisville
When: Saturday, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Churchill Downs (700 Central Ave.)
What: Located on Churchill Downs Millionaires Row 4th Floor, Taste of South Louisville features 18 restaurants, including Little Jerusalem, Main Street Café, Shack in the Back, Sunergos Coffee and Vietnam Kitchen. Proceeds support South Louisville Community Ministries, a 39-year-old association that provides food aid, a food pantry, medication, prevention of rental eviction, utility shutoff help, senior assistance, counseling, adult day care, and Meals on Wheels routes. Tickets are $20.
Kentucky State Fair
When: Through Aug. 25
Where: The Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (937 Phillips Lane)
What: Skip this year's state fair stunt food, the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe, and head to the Broadbent Arena Lawn for local dairy, beef, ham, pork, chicken, fish, lamb and corn. (And while the Mike Linnig's tent serves up iconic fair fare, it's not worth having to suffer through the sad Little Miss Sunshine talent show that accompanies it.)
