Food Literacy Project's Field-to-Fork Dinner
When: Sunday, 5:30 p.m.
Where: The Marketplace (651 S 4th St.)
What: Chefs Erica Parker of The Comfy Cow, Dan Thomas of Key Impact and Michael Hargrove of the Kentucky Chapter of the American Culinary Federation are joining Dallas McGarity at Marketplace for a five-course field-to-fork dinner in support of the Food Literacy Project. Since its founding in 2006, that project has taught more than 18,000 low-income children how to become engaged in a sustainable food system. Tickets are $110 a person and can be purchased online or by calling 502-491-0072.
Jeffersonville Italian Festival
When: Friday, 5-9 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Where: Downtown Jeffersonville (129 W. Court Ave.)
What: "The 2013 Jefferson Italian Festival will feature authentic Italian food, music, and activities in a family-friendly atmosphere, and looks to give people the feeling of experiencing 'Little Italy' without ever having to leave southern Indiana," according to the press release. In addition to food, drink, music and dancing, there'll be spaghetti-, cake-, cannoli- and hot pepper-eating contests. Admission is $3, free for children 5 and younger.
Anderson County Burgoo Festival
When: Friday–Sunday
Where: Downtown Lawrenceburg
What: Held at the self-proclaimed "burgoo capital of the world," the Anderson County Burgoo Festival features burgoo, music, and entertainment. Even if you can't make it to Lawrenceburg this weekend, be sure to visit the event's website to hear "The Burgoo Song" by Robert Myles.
