For the second consecutive week, the Louisville Courier-Journal's Marty Rosen deemed a restaurant "excellent." This time it was Shack in the Back earning the 3.5-star rating (out of 4). That's up 0.5 stars (a 16.67 percent increase according to the Percentage Change Calculator) from Rosen's 2009 review of the Fairdale BBQ joint:
All these meats are dry rubbed; if you want sauces, those are available on the side, at various heat levels. Take a bite of the beef brisket (sandwich, $5.39; dinner with sides, $8.29), and you'll find fine-grained beef that would earn nods of approval from the most opinionated aficionado of Texas-style Q. With pork and beef of this caliber, you might be tempted to skip over other menu offerings. That would be a sad, sad thing. [Louisville Courier-Journal]
