"I'm sixty years old ... I worked a lot in the past, so right now I just need to see what I'm going to do in the future," Erika Masden told Eater when asked why she closed Erika's German Restaurant on December 21 of last year. She added: "My lease also is up, and I didn't want to renew my lease anymore." Those visiting the adjacent gun and gold shops can view a sign on the door of the former Erika's reading: "Thank you very much for your patronage and friendship during the last 10 years. We look forward to a well-deserved retirement, but will certainly miss all of our loyal customers." Asked if another restaurant might occupy the location, Masden replied "I don't know anybody who would be interested in the space."
