StarChefs.com™, an online magazine for "culinary insiders," will be honoring up-and-coming chefs and culinary professionals from the Bluegrass and Volunteer states with its 2014 Kentucky-Tennessee Rising Stars Awards. Louisville-area honorees include Chefs Annie Pettry of Decca and Levon Wallace of Proof, Charcutier Jay Denham of Curehouse, Seelbach Sommelier Julie DeFriend, Mixologist Susie Hoyt of The Silver Dollar, Brewers Sam Cruz and Jerry Gnagy of Against The Grain, and Roaster James Tooill of Argo Sons. They will join other award winners at StarChefs' "Rising Stars Gala" at the Muhammad Ali Center on Tuesday, February 25. Kentucky and Tennessee chefs and mixologists will offer dish, drink pairings and cocktails, with a portion of the evening's proceeds going towards Louisville's Food Literacy Project, providing farm-based education and entrepreneurial youth programs that bring the field-to-fork experience to life.
