"As passionate restaurateurs, our dreams of bringing exceptional Mexican food to Louisville has [sic] come to fruition." So begins the menu of Wild Rita's Modern Mexican & Tequila Bar, the newest concept from franchise-focused creators J.D. Rothberg and Shane Hall, the same pair who created Napa River Grill and the rapidly expanding Wild Eggs. Wild Rita's opened for business February 3, offering a wide selection of tequilas (including an $1125 bottle of Patrón Gran Burdeos Añejo), cocktails, tacos, salads entrees and more. One of the "Entradas Modernas" is the "Chuleta Massiva," a marinated, braised and deep-fried pork chop for two.
Wild Rita's menu claims the "authentic, chef-driven menu" derives from the spirit of a "were-jaguar," a Mexican folklore symbol representing a "supreme being where the human world meets the animal world." Which tequila best brings out the "were-jaguar" remains to be seen.
