Opening Alert

GaraEmpanadas150x98.jpgGara Empanadas has opened in Crestwood, and you might see owner Raul Blanco dressed up in a homemade empanada costume in front of the tiny take-out-only store. Gara Empanadas has a variety of filled pastries representing "different Latin American countries' recipes," The Courier-Journal reports. Blanco and partners Gabriel Frankel and Maria Alvarez had a food truck business, but decided to take their empanadas to the Crestwood drive-through stand as a "pilot program." If it goes well, they plan to expand as well as possibly sell frozen empanadas and bottled sauces in local grocery stores. [Courier-Journal]
