Marty Rosen calls Shawn Ward's new menu at The Brewery "an adventure in pub cuisine, but despite its "ambitious, eclectic menu that makes imaginative use of excellent products" does not want to call it a "gastropub," a word he wishes would be "dropped from the lexicon." He enjoys his "Francoise Burger" with Morbier cheese, as well as noting for "longtime fans" of Ward's shrimp and grits that the chef continues his Jack Fry's "signature dish," complete with Parmigiano-Reggiano (an addition Rosen says he finds "gratuitous").
