BARcode 1758 "officially opened May 17" on Frankfort Avenue, said owner Kim Song, but did not obtain its liquor license until the end of May. Song also told Eater BARcode1758 did "a little changing of the bar area and the sushi bar," but other than than that the restaurant retains much of the atmosphere of the former occupant, Maido. Insider Louisville's Kevin Gibson visited the restaurant before liquor was allowed, finding "a fairly standard sushi menu" alongside "some intriguing Asian appetizers, entrees, soups, salads and ... skewers." Song confirmed to Eater that "skewers" are a big part of the BARcode 1758 concept—going beyond yakitori, which "is only chicken." Song says the restaurant offers steak, shrimp, asparagus and bacon, sausage, mushroom, Korean rice cake and fish cake skewers.
