Nash Neely and wife Laura Clemmons Neely are renovating the former VFW Post 3593 in Germantown as The Post Pub, a pizzeria and pub. Neely, who is currently employed by Republic Bank & Trust Co., worked as bar manager at Pazzo's Pizza Pub in Lexington from 2002 to 2009, and says a pizza pub is "what I know, what I love." The couple hopes to open their restaurant by the end of the year. Construction crews are gutting the building, which needs new plumbing and air conditioning. The Neelys also plan to add a patio, but would not say how much they are putting into renovations.
The Neelys told Business First the pizzeria/pub's theme "will play off the building's history as a VFW post," saying the VFW "was a longtime staple in Germantown and served as a community gathering place." The Neely's also said the interior will be "All American" and the restaurant will serve "only domestic beers, including local and craft brews."
