Louvino, the "Small Plates/Big Wines" concept now occupying the former De La Torres space at 1606 Bardstown Road, is now open. Executive Chef Tavis Rockwell and pharmacists-turned-boozy painting promoters-turned-restaurateurs Chad Coulter and Lauren Coulter survived some soft opening runs and feel ready to face the general public. According to Chad Coulter, Louvino will be open with a "full menu" each Tuesday through Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 10.p.m., and Thursday through Saturdays from 3 p.m. to midnight. There will also be a Sunday brunch with live jazz.
Eater obtained Louvino's "Cheese and Meat," main and Sunday brunch menus, as well as a "Kentucky Themed" wine flights menu featuring hat tips to local celebrities such as Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence, who Coulter says "has already told us that she will be coming in to try her flight when she is back in town," and University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino, whose name appears over a sampling of Pinot Noir because Coulter says Louvino knows it's "his favorite varietal ... so we rolled with that." Louvino will not take reservations, instead opting to take call aheads and use the the locally created DineTime platform that allows customers to put themselves on Louvino's waiting list via a mobile app or website.
