Anticipated Openings Fall 2014

Fall is approaching more quickly than many would like. Some in Louisville are gathering back-to-school supplies or scheduling tailgate parties, Eater is thinking about restaurant openings. Several places have plans to open before the end of the year, including Anoosh Shariat who has already taken the reins at Henry's Place, pictured above. We've listed these restaurants in no particular order, and will update you on their actual opening dates (some of which may be as soon as today). If we've missed any planned places, or miffed some information, we'd certainly appreciate hearing about it in the comments.

Location: 2787 S. Floyd Street
Fernando Martinez is planning another "simple taco restaurant," this time "with lots of beers on tap" across from Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Martinez anticipates opening by September 15 with "$2.50 tacos, tortas and Mexican food."

Location: 909 East Market Street
Ryan Rogers took over the 1920s-era truck dealership building and anticipates opening "hopefully" by the end of the year with "over twice as many seats and many more local craft beers on draft coming your way." Not to mention some excellent barbecue and craft cocktails.

Location: 3922 Westport Road
Owner Fabian Garcia's father started the Americanized-Mex restaurant El Caporal back in 1989, but his son says this St. Matthews location will offer more "refined" food "just like in Mexico, maybe even a little better." Micheladas, "bourbonritas" and "house-made everything" may open Tuesday, September 19.

The Brewery (1).jpgWard 426
Location: 426 Baxter Avenue
While Shawn Ward and Dean Corbett's initial plan after purchasing The Brewery was to "turn the corner and do something that was different for us." However, customer expectations from other restaurants (Ward for many years at Jack Fry's, Corbett still operating Equus/Jack's and Corbett's: An American Place) have forced The Brewery to shift from sort-of gastropub to "upscale dining" Ward 426. Bittners has been called in to redecorate, and by mid-September Ward & Corbett plan to be back "where our heart is," as Ward has said.

PostPubCJ.pngThe Post Pub
Location: 1045 Goss Avenue
Nash Neely and wife Laura Clemmons Neely are renovating the former VFW Post 3593 in Germantown as a pizzeria and pub to be known as The Post Pub. The Neelys plan to "play off the building's history as a VFW post," saying the VFW "was a longtime staple in Germantown and served as a community gathering place." The Neelys also said the interior will be "All American" and the restaurant will serve "only domestic beers, including local and craft brews." They hope to open by the end of the year.
