Baxter Station Becoming 'Neighborhood Bar and Restaurant' Again?

Fred Pizzonia told WDRB he hopes to open a yet-unnamed restaurant as soon as mid-October following a renovation of the former Baxter Station Bar & Grill. As Eater reported last year, the state ordered Baxter Station closed for nonpayment of taxes. Records from the Jefferson County Master Commissioner's office show Jesse E. Francis bought the building for $158,000 on July 8 after Stock Yards Bank filed suit against the former owner, Andrew Hutto. (Pizzonia, owner of Rockford Automotive, said he and a "business partner" bought the building last month.) Pizzonia said the group plans to move the kitchen to the back to open up the front dining room and "there will be a lot sidewalk seating," saying the restaurant "is totally getting revamped." Pizzonia said the restaurant will be run by his sister Bridgette Pizzonia. Arthur Huntington, who currently cooks at Eddie Merlot's and Limestone, was named as the chef, and said the menu will offer "inexpensive American fare, perhaps with a hint of Italian."
