Bobby Flay Possibly 'Drawn' To Opening a Restaurant in Louisville

As reported in Eater National, Chef Bobby Flay may have his sights set on opening a restaurant in Louisville. According to the Courier-Journal, Flay will "scout possible Louisville restaurant locations this weekend." He tells the paper that he's interested at looking at "five or six locations" around Louisville and is drawn to the city's "original architecture."

Flay doesn't reveal any details regarding the kind of a concept he plans on opening in the city but throws out a few ideas. There is a possibility that Louisville will be home to an iteration of Gato, Flay's new Mediterranean-influenced restaurant in New York City: Flay tells the CJ "Diners are eschewing meat more and more for healthier vegetables, and Gato plays with Mediterranean flavors…Louisville might be a place to experiment with that…light dishes, and a lot more flavors."

Louisville could also become home to a version of Mesa Grill, Flay's first restaurant that recently shuttered in New York City due to issues with the lease: "That is my flagship. It was always my headquarters…It's like an old friend that needs to be redone." He adds, "I am either going to open it in New York or in Louisville." Eater has reached out to Bobby Flay for comment.
